Row Current Compensation for Optimizing the Output Performance of Photovoltaic Array

This paper presents a row current compensation method to enhance the output performance of total cross-tied (TCT) photovoltaic (PV) arrays. This method can improve the output performance of TCT PV arrays under partial shading conditions (PSCs) and make full use of the power generated by PV arrays. The system mainly consists of batteries, DC-DC converter, PV array, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. The DC-DC converter controls the output current of battery to compensate the PV array while MPPT tracks the maximum power point (MPP) to ensure maximum output of PV array. In this paper, the effectiveness of the method is verified by experiments.
