Landscape Spatial Pattern Analysis for Nilgiris District

Urbanization is an irreversible phenomenon characterized by population increase and the dominance of commercial and industrial activities in urban economies. Increased pollution levels, insufficient amenities, and inefficient use of local natural resources are all consequences of rapid and unplanned urbanization. This necessitates the understanding of the geospatial pattern of growth for better planning and governance in a region. Our study involves land-use land-cover dynamics of the Nilgiris district and aims to quantify and analyze the urban dynamics in Ooty using landcover, temporal land-use data and well-established landscape metrics.
