Rabin Cryptosystem Based Biometric Privacy-Preserving User Authentication Scheme for IoT Devices over Cloud

The uses of smart devices are growing rapidly in recent times due to the wide range of IoT based applications. Security is one of the major concerns for IoT devices and its applications. The device security can only be warranted through robust multi-factor device authentication mechanisms. Failure in authentication, might lead the system to feed the incorrect data and may lead to dangerous attacks. As a result, IoT enable devices require secure authentication schemes. In this paper, an user authentication scheme known as Rabin Cryptosystem based Biometric Privacy-Preserving User Authentication Scheme (RCBP2U-AS) is proposed. The proposed scheme, compared to other schemes, is quite better at providing security and authentication. Using the Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications (AVISPA) simulation tool, it is found that the system is resistant to replay, man-in-the-middle attacks, impersonation attacks, password guessing attacks and many more. The proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of computation, communication, storage overhead, and overall computation time.
