Design and Implementation of Hybrid Equalization Battery Management System for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Development of Lithium battery based energy storage much higher because has more advantages than other battery types. However, Lithium battery has some disadvantages such susceptible in electrical interference. Series-parallel configuration lead to voltage imbalance and moreover into degradation of battery performance. Base on this situation, hybrid SoC estimation designed. Experiment will focused on BMS development with monitoring and balancing feature for 12S-1P battery pack configuration. Monitoring can be done by observing battery data, such as voltage, current, and real power. Experiment result on BMS monitoring show total accuracy rate 99,707% and total precision rate 99,995. Balance method by combining passive (Switched Shunt Resistor) and active (Swithed Transformer Flyback topologies with pack-cell architecture) both in charging and discharging condition show result that voltage deviation 105% better than active, even more 697.16% better than passive. Whereas, hybrid average balance duration perform 15,87% worse than active caused by energy dissipation, however hybrid method perform 8.97% better than passive balance.
