Conveyor Frame Simulation of Magnetic Separator Machine for Recycling Lithium-Ion Batteries Model 18650

The lithium-ion battery is an energy storage area that is often used for various tools because of its high energy density, high efficiency, long lifetime, and one of the solutions to be used as energy storage that is easy to use. After charging-discharging cycle process, the performance of battery can be decreased, and need to be recycled due to the battery element that contained many toxic and harmful materials. In overcoming this problem, it is necessary to recycle lithium-ion batteries. Battery recycling units are needed to be designed and manufactured to reduce and recycle the broken battery. One of the units that used to recycle battery was separator unit. The separator unit used to separate materials of battery after being crushed by battery crusher unit. The present study was applied to design and simulate the frame and conveyor from separator machine to get a stable frame with less movement when it being operated. The process is carried out by evaluating three designs that have been made. The simulation uses the ANSYS 2020 R2 software static structural method to determine the strength of each design and get the most optimal design. The result of this research showed that the third design has the most optimal design compared to the other two designs. The third model have the highest value on the four parameters, which are a maximum deformation with 0.00386 mm, the maximum von-mises stress with 4.48 MPa, maximum shear stress with 2.26 MPa, and safety factor 15. The third design can receive a load of 10.5 kN with minimum value of safety factor 4.11.
