Multifunctional Optical Metasurface for Anomalous Reflection, Structural Color, and Surface Lattice Resonance

Multifunction is one of the most important research directions for the optical metasurface.This paper creatively proposes a multifunctional optical metasurface based on polarization multiplexing, which is composed of periodic arrays of metal-insulator-metal structural meta-atom. In the y-polarization state, the metasurface realizes anomalous reflection and high-saturation structural color in the visible band. Besides, in the x-polarization state, the metasurface realizes refractive index sensing with a high sensitivity of 640.5 RIU/nm due to surface lattice resonance excited by the incident beam. The proposed metasurface has great potential applications in the field of spectrometers, displays, and sensors.
