Analyzing the required skills and competencies in Industrial revolution 4.0 and 5.0: A Literature Review

Technology is changing rapidly nowadays which causes changes in the workplace. Workers are under pressure of coping with the advancement in technology and reducing the gap between skills and competencies. This study aims to identify the needed skills and competencies in the context of Industry 4.0 and 5.0. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted to analyze the required job skills in the workplace in Industry 4.0 and 5.0. Scopus-indexed published papers during the period 2018-2022 related to the scope of this work were reviewed to analyze the used methodology, source of data, and the outputs of the needed skills and competencies. The findings showed the need for Innovation and creativity, knowledge of ICT and Big Data, and communication. This study helps educational institutions to update their education systems and curricula with the needed skills in the workplace. It helps individuals to decide on the most required training programs.
