A Study on the Assistive System for Safe Elevator Get on of Wheelchair Users with Upper Limb Disability

In this study, a boarding assistance system that can prevent accidents caused by unskilled operation ability of upper limb disabled people who have difficulties in operating electric wheelchairs is proposed. The elevator boarding assistance system uses 2D LiDAR to detect the elevator instead of the user and create a boarding path to enter the elevator. The study was conducted in an environment where an actual elevator was installed to verify the performance of the elevator detection and route planning algorithm.
