A Wideband High Directional Bow - Tie Antenna for Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast

This paper presents a design technology on wideband high directional bow-tie antenna, operating within 0.976 - 1.252 GHz band, for Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS - B) communication technologies. The proposed antenna is printed on Rogers RO3010 substrate of dimensions 90×125 mm
²
having a relative permittivity of 10.2 and thickness of 1.6mm. Peak gain varies between 3.33dBi - 4.61dBi within the operating region for radiating electromagnetic energy. This structure also adopts three director elements on the top and bottom planes to maintain high directional behaviour. The fabricated prototype is verified with simulation results and a good agreement is noted. Due to high directional radiating electromagnetic wave, wideband, compact size and simple structure it can be used in ADS - B systems along with GPR and other L-band applications.
