Cascaded Fuzzy Logic Algorithm for Multi-Functional Control of PMSG Based WECS

The development of a suitable controller methodology is instrumental in obtaining significant enhancement of wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). In this work, a robust Cascaded Fuzzy Logic Controller (CFLC) is employed for improving the operation of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) based WECS. The newly introduced CFLC is designed based on the operational parameters of the PMSG. Since WECS is a variable power source, the power obtained from it is characterized with intermittency, so by adding a battery to the network, the ceaseless power supply is ensured. The interfacing of the battery to network requires a Bidirectional DC-DC Converter (BDC), which significantly assists in the process of discharging and charging of the battery using Proportional (PI) controller. The Grid Side Converter (GSC) is also controlled effectively using CFLC, for attaining effectual grid voltage synchronization. The evaluation of the claim of the proposed regulator methodology is done with MATLAB simulation.
