Transparent and Flexible Single-layer Metasurface with Specially Chosen Unit Cell for Multi-band Operation in X-K Band

Optically transparent, flexible, single layer, light weight, and conformal frequency selective surface with periodic arrangement of circular ring and flower shaped unit cells is designed and investigated. The structures are analyzed in the frequency range of 1 to 25 GHz covering the broad range of electromagnetic spectrum from C to K band. The periodic arrangement of circular ring structure provides stop-bandwidth of 12.34 GHz spanning over 7.58 GHz to 19.92 GHz. The second design containing the periodic arrangement of flower shaped unit cells enhances the stop- bandwidth to 14.00 GHz. In addition, narrow pass-band and stop- band selectivity is achieved in the frequency range of 21 to 25 GHz. Our designs for the flexible frequency selective surface thus offer options to use them as stop-band filter and pass-band filter at different frequencies in X, Ku and K bands. The simulated and experimental results show good concurrence with each other.
