Analysis of Vehicle to Grid (V2G) Integration in Renewable based Micro grid

This paper discusses the function of the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) connection in the frequency control of renewable-based micro-grids. The micro-grid is fueled by sporadic wind and solar photovoltaic sources, a diesel generator that serves as a backup power source, as well as loads from homes and businesses. Modeling and simulating the entire system is done in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Many different kinds of vehicle profiles are considered for simulation purposes. The following operational scenarios are simulated: partial shading of solar photovoltaic panels; wind farm power ceasing due to high wind speeds; and a sudden change in load demand. Results from simulations illustrate the value of V2G inclusion in power regulation and grid frequency regulation under challenging circumstances.
