Analysis of Direction Finding Antenna System for Sonobuoy Positioning

Location of a sonobuoy with respect to an airborne platform can be obtained by homing, which involves following a bearing (or azimuth course) directed towards it. A simulation study of bearing estimation of a sonobuoy from an airborne platform using 3 antenna configuration using phase interferometry has been done in this paper. Variation of phase shift in the incoming signals from sonobuoy received by the three antenna elements on airborne platform for different elevation, range, frequency and element spacing has been modelled.
