A Wideband X-band Phase Shifter in SIW Technology

This paper presents a wideband phase shifter based on substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. Most of the SIW-based phase shifters are of narrow bandwidth because of their high dispersive characteristics. Here, a linear variation of the phase constant is targeted by using different tapering profiles. Thus, a wideband phase shifter is designed. An X-band phase shifter with a relative phase shift of 270 degrees is designed and implemented. The results show that it covers the whole X-band with a maximum insertion loss of 0.71 dB. Guidelines are provided for other phase shift values and also other frequency ranges.
