Smart Solid and Wet Waste Management System

Modern cities produce an excessive amount of rubbish, and the laborious manual labour needed to process it makes the task seem pointless. This affects the climatic conditions which is the major cause for global warming. In this paper the smart waste segregator is created to make it simple to dispose the collected waste. It aims to segregate waste as biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes. The waste is introduced into the conveyor belt to be separated. The metallic trash is located using an electromagnet. The wet waste is detected using the moisture sensor. The ultrasonic detectors are used for sensing the user near the bin to open the lid. They are also present in the conveyor and used for level detection purpose. This system also involves gas sensor for odour detection purpose. The servo motor is used for rotating the bin to certain angle for segregating the biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes. The system is driven by microcontroller Arduino UNO.
