CPW fed Metamaterial loaded Octagonal U-Shape Slotted Antenna for WBAN Applications

An octagonal U-shaped slot antenna (OUSA) with a coplanar waveguide for WBAN applications has been designed in this article. The OUSA-shaped antenna size is 0.12λomm × 0.12λomm×0.009λomm. The split-ring resonator (SRR) structure for gain and bandwidth improvement. The antenna is made out of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure that feds a U-shaped radiating slot. Frequency bands are obtained at frequencies of 1.8GHz, 7.3GHz, and 10GHz, with return losses of 23dB, 33dB, and 29dB, respectively. Simulation results show that the designed prototype is most appropriate for on-body communication.
