Healthcare Waste Material Management: A Bibliometric study with reference to the Indian context

The intensifying population growth rate, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, a massive spread of chronic diseases and prodigious use of disposable products by the healthcare sector has proliferated the stock of healthcare waste around the globe. The existence of hazardous materials in this waste significantly damages the environment and deteriorates health of the general public. Therefore, efficient handling of healthcare waste has become an indispensable affair globally captivating the interest of researchers and academicians. The massive volume of global literature concerning healthcare waste material makes the subject area very fragmented and diverse and only a limited number of studies divert their attention specifically to the developing countries and India being one of the fastest moving economies & densely populated countries of the world call for a systematized and inclusive approach on HCW and its management. Therefore this study attempts to render a comprehensive image of research available on healthcare waste concerning the Indian context by employing the use of VOS viewer software for bibliometric analysis of the refined Scopus database.
