Optimization of Laser Irradiation Scheme on the Beveling of Quartz Crystal Blanks for Resonators

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, the communication network is quickly upgrading with 5G and more advanced allocations of band and frequency. As a result, quartz crystal resonators as the core component of signal processing functions have also been challenged with strict requirements on frequency and stability for these new frequency bands. At present, quartz crystal resonators continue to grow in the direction of high fundamental frequency and miniaturization with required stability. Traditional processing techniques can no longer meet these demands, which makes laser processing techniques more attractive as possible alternative options for newer generations of technology and product developments. By studying the morphological characteristics of picosecond laser ablation of quartz crystals for empirical laws of morphological changes, the findings will provide guidelines for laser processing of quartz crystal blanks for resonator applications as the newer technology.
