Simulation and Experimental Research on Mode Switching of Traveling Wave Rotary Ultrasonic Motor

Based on the working principle of rotating traveling wave motor, this paper proposed a method to realize the operating mode switching of the motor without changing the polarization pattern of the piezoceramic ring. Two operating modes of the motor were determined by simulation. The prototype was assembled and two operating modes of the prototype were verified respectively. The experimental results showed that the no-load speed of the motor in B09 operating mode was 40r /min, and the stalling torque was 0.8N/m; the no-load speed of the motor in B03 operating mode was 22r /min, and the stalling torque was 0.6N/m. The feasibility of mode switching function has been preliminarily verified.
