Domestic Grid Powered Power Factor Corrected Solar Interfaced Position Sensor Free PMBLDCM Drive

A single phase grid powered power factor corrected (PFC) converter for solar interfaced hybrid position sensor free drive with permanent magnet brushless direct current (PMBLDC) motor of low power irrigation water pump is presented in this study. A rotor position estimation technique is implemented here to run the motor-pump set in sensor free mode for reliable operation at varying weather and ambiance conditions. An intermediate DC-DC boost converter is integrated in the system for PFC operation. A solar photovoltaic array is incorporated in the designed system to reduce the energy consumption from the grid. The integrated inverter in developed system is used for both electronic commutation in position sensor free mode and maximum power extraction operation of the interfaced solar photovoltaic array. The designed system is validated using different experimental results at several test conditions.
