Seamless Control Approach Based on Modified Blake-Zisserman Function for Multiple DFIGs and SPV Arrays in a Grid-Interactive AC/DC Microgrid

Seamless control operation utilizing the generic modified Blake-Zisserman adaptive filter (GMBZ-AF) for a grid-interactive AC/DC microgrid is presented in this paper. The AC/DC microgrid structure comprises of multiple solar photovoltaic (SPV) arrays and multiple doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) for renewable power generation. The microgrid structure and its operational scheme are specifically designed to effortlessly enable further modular expansion with additional DFIGs and SPV arrays. Moreover, to enable a disruption-free power to the loads at various operation modes, and a seamless transfer among these modes, appropriate refinements are incorporated in the microgrid control strategy. These refinements, which are aided by the GMBZ-AF, are incorporated within the power converters' control strategies. Meanwhile, the primary operational objectives of the power converters remain unaffected. Verifications of the control strategy and the operational scheme with simulation analyses, are performed for a microgrid structure comprising three units each of DFIG and SPV array.
