Optimal Procurement of Energy using Combined GA-OPF Technique in Deregulated Power Sector

This paper suggests a combined Genetic Algorithm (GA)-Optimal Power Flow (OPF) method that may be used to procure the energy. This paper suggests a market-based mechanism for Renewable Producers (RP) to clear energy in a deregulated environment. For energy procurement and/or cost minimization, the sequential cleaning technique has been considered. The proposed mixed GA-OPF technique for obtaining the required service has been investigated utilizing a modified IEEE-30 bus test equipment. The Optimal Power Flow (OPF) technique, which takes into account all transmission restrictions and power flow limits, is used to define and solve this optimization problem. When compared to Conventional Power Producers (CPPs), it is evident that the proposed approach using RPs offers lower procurement costs.
