Anti-aliasing Filter Leakage Characteristics for Utilization in Phasor Measurements Units

For growing concern of the power system protection phasor measurement units (PMU) have been taking responsibility in the electrical network system. As PMUs are using anti aliasing filter which is a low pass filter, analysing low pass filters behaviour is also important. In this paper different types of low pass filters like butterworth, chebyshev type 1, chebyshev type 2 have been discussed. In those discussion a beautiful concept called leakage concept has been observed. This leakage concept gives a mesmerizing facts related to leakage with respect to before cut off frequency(pass band frequency) and also after cut off frequency(stop band frequency). Also authors have discussed the variation of order of filters with respect to magnitude. The novelty of this paper lies in the discussion that the authors had used the basic standard transfer function for realization of filter and also to pass a signal or stop a signal how much should be the cut off frequency range also have been discussed.
