Research on the Lateral Buckling of Submarine Pipeline Considering the Pipe-soil Interaction

A nonlinear finite element model of pipeline buckling is proposed with ABAQUS. The pipeline is set up with initial imperfection, and the pipe-soil interaction is modeled with PSI24 element. The frictional pipe-soil interaction model is used in the model. The influences of lateral friction factor, axial friction factor and yield displacement on the initiation and post-buckling behavior are studied. It is found that the lateral friction factor has great effect on the pipeline bucking. The axial friction factor has small influence on the pipeline buckling. And the yield displacement has little influence on pipeline buckling.
