Numerical Simulation Study on Sediment Effect of Bored Pile Tip

Based on the PLAXIS3D finite element numerical method, a finite element numerical model of pile soil interaction of bored cast-in-situ single pile with pile tip sediment is established. Taking the thickness and modulus of sediment at the pile tip as variables, the variation law of bearing characteristics of common bored cast-in-situ friction pile foundation affected by pile tip sediment is quantitatively analyzed from the aspects of load settlement relationship, pile shaft compression, load sharing ratio, etc. The research results show that the thickness and modulus of the sediment have a significant impact on the bearing capacity of the pile foundation. The thicker the sediment at the pile end, or the lower the sediment modulus, the lower the stiffness of the pile end soil. The smaller the stiffness of pile end soil, the lower the bearing capacity, and the lower the ultimate bearing capacity of pile foundation. In practical projects, it is advisable to improve and ensure the bearing capacity of bored piles by improving the efficiency of slag removal, reducing the thickness of sediment, and improving the mechanical properties of sediment at the pile tip.
