Research on the Anti-collapse Performance of Steel Frame Structures with Masonry Filler Walls in the Form of Reduced Beam-flange Connections

Masonry filler walls are widely used in practical buildings. Research shows that they have an important impact on resisting the vertical continuous collapse of the structure. However, in most current design codes, it is only considered as a secondary component or a non-structural component, and its contribution to anti-collapse is ignored. In addition, the application of reduced beam-flange connections is relatively mature at present, and research shows that the structure with reduced beam-flange connections gains an edge in anti-collapse performance, but the anti-collapse performance of steel frame structures with filler walls in the form of reduced beam-flange connections is still uncertain. In order to investigate the anti-continuous collapse performance of steel frame structures with filler walls in the form of reduced and bolted-weld beam-flange connections, this study uses numerical simulation methods to study the advantages of the structure when the middle column is removed, and to explore the impact of span on the anti-collapse performance of the structure. The results show that the bearing capacity and ductility of steel frame structures with filler walls in the form of reduced beam-flange connections are better than those in the form of non-reduced beam-flange connections. In addition, the research results reveal that the contribution of filler walls to the bearing capacity of the structure also decreases with the increase of the span.
