Driving Factors of Water Resources Consumption in The Yangtze River Delta Based on LMDI

With continuous economic development, the Yangtze River Delta region is facing the problem of conflict between economic and social and water resource systems, and problems such as water shortage and water environment degradation have become important factors limiting the economic and social development of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster. Therefore, the article adopts the LMDI method to decompose the water resources, and drivers of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, into technology effect, structural effect, output effect, and scale effect, and analyses the spatial and temporal differences of water consumption drivers in terms of spatial and temporal differences. At the end of the paper, the policy recommendations are put forward. Local governments should improve the water-saving awareness, optimize the structural effect and control the scale of population migration to promote sustainable development of water resources.
