Human resources in the food agroindustry in Panama

The workforce is of vital importance for the success of any company in any economic sector. This paper analyzes how the workforce is perceived by entrepreneurs in the food agroindustry in Panama, as well as how women participate in said activity. A survey was applied, at the national level, to 348 companies classified per size as micro, small, or medium. Although, the instrument for collecting the information included other aspects, for the purposes of this work, only the data related to the workforce that labor in the companies surveyed were considered. The results indicate that, in Panama, there is an increasing number of businessmen who consider labor as one of the main problems of their company and there is an increasing number of women who work and own their companies. The areas where women mostly work are administration and sales. Even though, there are still differences between the number of men and women who work permanently and temporarily.
