LFDMA PAPR minimization using Advanced Selective Mapping-based phase factor optimization

Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) is a promising method for uplink communication that uses single carrier modulation and has the same performance as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access (OFDMA) for downlink. SC-FDMA is a key component of the 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) Long Term Evolution (LTE), but it suffers from a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). One of the main advantages of SC-FDMA over OFDMA is that it has a lower PAPR that can be used for data transmission. The main challenge of SC-FDMA system is to improve Bit Error Rate (BER) and PAPR reduction performance. This paper aims to optimize phase vector values using an Improved Forest Optimization-based Selected Mapping (IMFO-SLM) method to reduce Localized SC-FDMA (LFDMA) signal PAPR. The simulation results indicate that using the IMFO-SLM scheme reduces the impact of PAPR and BER on the LFDMA signal. For QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM modulation types, the proposed method yields PAPR values of 4dB, 5dB, and 4.5dB, respectively.
