120 kW BLDC Motor Design for Electric Train Application using ANSYS Maxwell

The Permanent Magnet DC Brushless Motor (PMBLDC) has gained popularity recently as a result of the quick development of power electronics technology and the rising demand for energy savings in industrial applications. Due to the absence of brushes, brushless DC (BLDC) motors have a considerable reliability advantage over traditional DC motors. The BLDC motor can be for high-power applications such as Electric trains, underwater vehicles, and military applications. In this paper, the design of 3 phase Radial Flux BLDC motor with a rating of 120 kW, 3000 RPM, 450 V, and 8 Pole is carried out using RMxpert and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate the performance of the motor. The torque, speed, efficiency weight, power, temperature rise, and magnetic flux density distribution are examined by using ANSYS Maxwell.
