The Influential Factors for ICT Adoption: Survey of Teachers in the Higher Educational Institutions in Bauchi State

Information and Communication Technology Adoption (ICTA) among teachers is critical for effective service delivery in higher education institutions (HEIs). However, many teachers' poor ICTA in the teaching and learning process is of particular importance, especially in Nigeria. In light of this, the paper investigates the impact of administrative (top management support), organizational (organizational competence and ICT Infrastructure), and technological (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) factors on ICTA. For data collection, 350 structured 5-point likert scale questionnaires were distributed using stratified sampling. Cronbach's Alpha and factor loading were used to test the questionnaire's reliability and validity, and data was analyzed using multiple regression. ICTA was 45 percent in the overall model. As a result, technical factors dominated, followed by organizational factors. Administrative factors had no bearing. As a matter of fact, institutions must reconsider their policies and strategies through concrete support rather than empty words. The study concludes with recommendations, conclusions, and suggestions for future research.
