Dynamic Control of Power Supply for Distance Changing in Underwater Wireless Power Transfer

Underwater wireless power transfer (UWPT) has been a hot research topic due to its convenience and safe operation for autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) recharging. However., the unstable charging distance always occurs unavoidably between transmitters (TX) and receivers (RX) due to the wave of ocean current and many other factors. That will decrease the system efficiency and create reactive power in transmit coil. In this paper., a control method of dynamic power supply is proposed to solve this problem. By supplying flexible energy appropriately in the means of controlling the duty cycle of the full-bridge. And the optimal transfer efficiency relatively maintains in the unstable charging environment when the gap changing between transmitter and receiver coils. Experiments are conducted and the results prove that the introduced method has high reliability and applicable for UWPT system.
