Zero-emission Low-Storage-Pressure Ammonia Technology for Future Electric Vehicles

Ammonia is now a favorable alternative fuel to be used in an electric vehicle fuel cell system. Ammonia consists of 50% more hydrogen than one mole of hydrogen gas, and the safety concern is much less compared to hydrogen. The paper is to discuss the difference in the implementation of the fuel cell techniques between hydrogen and Ammonia and the associated power conversion. The safety, cost, and impact are also discussed. The manpower and the future professionals will also be discussed. The proposed electric vehicle using ammonia power is the world's first electric vehicle based on ammonia power and represents a new method of electric vehicle energy management.
