Research on the scheme of auto-adaptive distance protection with the influences of wind power integration

With a wind power system being integrated to a power system, the protection device of lines plays a vital role in the stable operation of the entire system. When power frequency fault components are used as the measuring quantities of distance protection, the operating characteristics of which are not affected by load states and system oscillations, and a better operating characteristic can be obtained. In traditional distance protection the influence of a transition resistance is not considered in setting, so there will be a large error in judging a fault point location. The main research content of this paper is exploring the influence of wind power generation integration on distance protection and then the action of the protection. On this basis, power frequency fault components are used to analyze the distance protection to avoid the influence of a transition resistance. Based on the MATLAB/Simulink simulation platform, a three-phase short-circuit fault and a single-phase grounding fault in a power system with wind power integration are analyzed by using power frequency fault components. The results show that the protection can operate correctly, and a new operating characteristic can be obtained to eliminate adverse effects on the operation of protection.
