Scattering from Thin Inhomogeneous Film Supported by a Dielectric Substrate

The electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering from a thin inhomogeneous film is studied using the asymptotic approach. This is possible due to small size of particles, which are embedded into inhomogeneous material of a film. The generality of approach proposed allows to investigate the scattering phenomena in the sub-THz range considering the particles of nanosize. Such particles are embedded into thin homogeneous film, and the scattering performances of resulting material are studied. The derived system of linear algebraic equation (SLAE) allows to determine the auxiliary functions, which are used to get the explicit formulas for the scattering problem. The results of numerical computations show that the scattering properties of the designed inhomogeneous film depend on the character of the embedding nanoparticles considerably.
