Decomposition of EM Potential in Partial Modes of Irregular Electrodynamic Systems

Basis functions localized in all spatial coordinates (so-called partial functions or oscillets) are suggested for expansion of non-stationary non-harmonic electromagnetic potentials in dispersive electrodynamic systems (ESs). Those are defined as linear transformations of the ES eigenfunction manifold minimizing the practically significant spatial spread of the oscillets. It is advisable to use new functions in electrodynamic computations and optimizations of irregular ESs of microwave sources including lengthy and open-ended (having a continuous spectrum of eigenfunctions) ones. An example of usefulness of the partial functions application for simulation of a longitudinally inhomogeneous ES is given.
