Managing a Kubernetes Cluster on Raspberry Pi Devices

This paper presents the step-by-step setup of a scalable Kubernetes cluster consisting of Raspberry Pi computers. This process is mostly automated with the help of Ansible provisioning tool. The power of Kubernetes orchestration platform is shown through two proof-of-concept applications: the first one is a stateless, easily parallelizable single workload web service, while the other one is a microservice-oriented application which can demonstrate the workload handling and scaling abilities of the system. The previously mentioned data can be monitored using Grafana and Prometheus.
