6G Vision and Next G Alliance Roadmap

Digital twin worlds of both physical and biological entities will be an essential platform for the new digital services of the future. According to Ericsson, four main drivers with corresponding challenges are emerging for the 6G era: trustworthiness of the systems at the heart of society, sustainability through the efficiency of mobile technology, accelerated automation, and digitalization to simplify and improve people's lives. The network provides intelligence, limitless connectivity, and full synchronization of the physical and digital worlds. The Next G Alliance has identified six audacious goals that describe the top priorities for North America's contribution and leadership in future global 6G standards, deployments, products, operations, and services. According to the Next G Alliance roadmap, there is a unique opportunity to consider how to address critical North American societal and economic challenges, as the authors begin defining 6G and identify the key infrastructure capabilities.
