The Effect of Portable Laboratory Integrated with Local Wisdom (PL-ILW) for Physics Learning

The purpose of this research is to develop a portable laboratory integrated with local wisdom (PL-ILW) for student experimentation and to evaluate students' learning experiences when PL-ILW is used in physics learning, on the topic of circular motion. PL-ILW for circular motion experimental activities was successfully developed, which consisted of Labview, Arduino, sensors, Otok-otok ships, and circular motion paths. Evaluation of the use of PL-ILW in physics learning was carried out for 2 years involving 365 students at the Faculty of Computer Science, Duta Bangsa University, Surakarta, Indonesia. The effect of using PL-ILW is seen from each class, gender, and previous school. To see the effectiveness of the use of PL-ILW on improving students' abilities, the gain adopted from the Hake formula was used. The result is that the use of PL-ILW in circular motion learning improves students' abilities and learning outcomes effectively. The increase in students' abilities and learning outcomes can be seen based on the gain category with 84.62% being in the medium and high gain categories. Furthermore, when viewed from gender and previous schools, there were no significant differences. The results of this study provide an alternative to the use of PL-ILW in learning in universities and high schools. Furthermore, these results indicate that PL-ILW can be an alternative solution for experimental learning during the pandemic and beyond.
