International standards to enable the exploitation of emerging integrated photonic technologies for future hyperscale data centres

In this paper we introduce two new European projects DYNAMOS and ADOPTION, which will help deploy advanced integrated photonic technologies to enable disruptive new architectures in hyperscale data centres and HPCs. In particular we introduce a disruptive new PIC-to-fibre coupling element based on metallic stamped micro-mirrors with the potential to dramatically reduce PIC design and assembly costs. We also describe international standardization efforts, which will enable deployment of such novel integrated photonics in future hyperscale data centre, HPC and 6G environments.
