Brief Review on Heterogeneous Vehicle Routing Problems

Heterogeneous vehicle routing problem(HVRP) is a branch of vehicle routing problem(VRP), which mainly studies the logistics transportation with heterogeneous vehicles. With the development of industry and social life, it is important to study the optimization scheme of collaborative delivery with heterogeneous vehicles. Many research results showed that different vehicle combinations have considerable advantages in costs and efficiency over the same vehicle under the same transportation task. For the research of HVRP problem, this paper studied the types of vehicles, such as, the cooperative transportation between enterprise vehicles and third-party vehicles, and discussed the subsequent branches of HVRP models. It analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of different algorithms, and the improved methods in solving problems related to HVRP. Finally, future research aspects of HVRP were proposed in three aspects, that is, HVRP with electric vehicle in Green VRP, multi-objective model, and recently developed heuristic algorithms.
