NSGA-II based Electric Vehicle Charging Scheduling for Daily Commuting

With the increasing proportion of electric vehicles (EVs) in private cars, the EVs’ public charging scheduling problem has been paid more attention due to the limited number of charging stations at home and long-distance commuting demands. This paper proposes an EV charging scheduling system (EVCSS) based on the NSGA-II algorithm to schedule multiple vehicles in urban daily commuting. The benefits of all EVs and users’ preferences are considered in optimizing charging stations’ selection and route planning. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the NSGA-II algorithm in solving the charging scheduling problem of EVs, and the superiority of EVCSS compared with the nearest neighbor charging routing algorithm (NNCR) in saving time, reducing charging cost and improving users’ satisfaction level.
