Turnover Intention of High-Tech Industry Managers: A Push-Pull-Mooring Model

This study argues that managers” transfer decisions., like population migration., is the result of rational thinking and the urge to improve the material life., physical needs., and soul satisfaction. Thus., we use the Push-Pull-Mooring model to analyze the high-tech industry managers” job transfer decision. We find that both push and pull effects show positive results for turnover intention. In other words., the higher the motivation of turnover causes the more significant the turnover decision. The higher the incentives offered by competitors., the higher the motivation generated among managers. However., the moderation effect of switching costs is not significant. It could be because poaching is a common means to acquire good managers with enough compensation to cover the switching costs. The model proposed in this study is not only useful for management in the high-tech industry to maintain their good human resources., but can also be applied in other areas.
