Enhancement of Emulation Usage for NVMe Solid State Drive

As technology development progresses rapidly in the global SSD market, the complexity of SoC design and verification time are increasing. Various verification platform such as simulation, FPGA, virtual platform, and emulation are used to verify SoCs with high complexity and high completeness. Therefore, selecting an appropriate verification platform according to the verification point is necessary. This paper presents emulation is the most suitable platform for boot ROM verification considering the verification time and visibility. The measurement results show that the bootloader transmission time of Emulation compared to the simulation was reduced by more than
$60\mathrm{x}$
from about 65 days to 25 hours. In addition, various solution tools of emulation were used to quickly analyze the root causes and problems of software and hardware.
