Analysis of 500 Ohm Neutral Grounding Resistance on a 60 MVA Power Transformer of One Phase to Ground Faults at Banyuwangi Substation

Substation has a vital function in the distribution of electrical energy and the regulation of the load of the feeders it supports. One of the protections for electrical equipment at substations is grounding. Grounding is a method used to reduce the effects caused by electric current when it is disturbed so that it does not harm electrical equipment. Therefore, substations must have a grounding safety standard referring to SPLN 26:1980. In this study, a calculation of one phase to ground fault was carried out and compared the fault current value with the Neutral Grounding Resistance (NGR) grounding system of 500 Ohms and without resistance (solid grounding). In addition, directional ground relay (DGR) coordination with ETAP 12.6.0 software is also carried out. The result of the calculations in this study is that the value of one phase to ground fault using a Neutral Grounding Resistance (NGR) of 500 Ohms is 23,092 Amperes. In the calculation results of one phase to ground fault using 500 Ohm Neutral Grounding Resistance (NGR) grounding on the Banyuwangi Substation 60 MVA Power Transformer, it was proven to meet the requirements of SPLN 26:1980
