Enhancement of Yarn Quality by Controlling the Humidity and Temperature

The moisture content in the yarn is important while spinning it into a bundle. It drastically increases the weight of the yarn bundle which in turn increases the price of the bundle. To reduce the moisture content in the yarn after processing like coloring it, it should be set up in an accurate condition, so that the relative humidity and the temperature of the yarn should be maintained at the appropriate levels. Also, the environmental conditions may increase the relative humidity of the yarn. The properties, like tensile strength, elasticity, rigidity, etc., will also be highly affected by the moisture gained. The yarn cannot attain the state of a moisture-free bundle without any external maintenance. It includes maintaining the processed yarn in a dry environment for a period of time which is not possible at a high rate of manufacturing. So, the moisture content in the yarn should be dried as quickly as possible after processing. For that, a prototype can be developed from which a closed environment is created where the yarn passes through a closed environment consisting of a series of DHT11 sensors to monitor the relative humidity in the yarn. The output of the DHT11 sensors is passed through the controller to control the air dryer to make the yarn free from moisture. In this research work, the humidity sensor DHT-11 was used to detect the level of humidity and temperature variation in the yarn. The data from the DHT-11 sensor, which is 40-bit data, will be directed to the controller, which will control the air dryer according to the range given by the company. Variations in relative humidity and thread temperature can be effectively monitored and maintained by switching the air dryer on and off based on the data provided by the controller. Different yarn materials require different relative humidity conditions for a perfect output based on their moisture gain values. So, the company has given a range of relative humidity for the different yarn materials that are used to control the air dryer. Hence, the moisture content of the yarn is controlled for better quality.
