Resource Allocation in CR networks using Beamforming Optimization

This paper introduces cooperative relaying in Cognitive radio networks (CRNs) to improve the spectral efficiencies of cell edge users. The resource allocation problem is investigated for relay-based CR in the downlink. Power allocation is developed as an optimization problem and is solved by means of fractional programming using Karush Kuhn Tucker (KKT) condition. To determine the ideal values for power allocation coefficients for Primary User (PU) and Secondary User (SU) links, a new beamforming vector algorithm is developed. The effectiveness of proposed algorithm is verified through the simulations carried out using MATLAB software. Simulation result show significant improvement in the spectral efficiencies, especially of users residing at cell edges.
