A method for the precession period estimation based on the recurrence plot

The estimation of the micro-motion period of ballistic target is of great significance for extracting target's features and distinguishing different targets. Taking the cone-cylindrical precession target as the research object, a method for estimating the precession period based on the recurrence plot is proposed. On the basis of analysis of the echo model, the time-frequency instantaneous power is calculated to estimate the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the echo, and the estimated value is used to solve the optimal distance threshold and thence the recurrence plot is conducted. The recurrence plot statistics is employed to estimate the period. Simulation experiment verifies the feasibility and robustness of the proposed method.
