Estimation of Low-altitude Wind-shear Wind Speed based on DDD-EFA under Aircraft Yawing

When the airborne radar is affected by the aircraft yawing, the clutter suppression performance decreases and leads to the inaccurate estimation of the low altitude wind-shear velocity. This paper proposes a method for estimating the low-altitude wind-shear velocity based on Direct Data Domain-Extended Factored Approach (DDD-EFA), which can obtain effective estimation of wind speed even when the airborne radar is affected by the aircraft yawing. First, the wind-shear signal of the range bin is filtered out, and then estimate the clutter covariance matrix for multiple training samples obtains from the sliding window. Then, the multidimensional Doppler channel and space domain adaptive processing combined in the time domain are used to construct the dimensionality reduction matrix. Finally, the optimal weight vector of the dimensionality reduction processor is constructed according to the minimum variance criterion to realize clutter suppression and the wind speed estimation of low-altitude wind-shear. The simulation results show that the proposed method can obtain effective estimation of wind speed.
