Model-based radar system simulation and verification

The model-based radar simulation system is used to set up a virtual radar system and evaluate the functionality and performance of radar. In this paper, a novel model-based radar system simulation framework based on SystemVue is proposed. In this simulation framework, simulation of various radar systems can be implemented by using composition of different models. The RF models and DSP models of radar systems can be co-simulated by using the RF-Link technology provided by SystemVue. To simulate and verify the various radar systems in different working modes, radar functional models are designed and developed, including various radar signal generation, RF channels, antennas, targets, clutter, jammers and signal processing. To simplify the system modelling and simulation, various model-based system simulation virtual test beds are proposed, which can be used to simulate the radar system and verify the performance of radar system with different parameters in different environments. Finally, a phased array radar virtual test bed example based on SystemVue is demonstrated and the simulation results are provided.
